Govt approves design of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur memorial

The Punjab Government today approved the designs of 'Khandas' (religious symbol) for the three heritage memorials, commemorating the victory of Sikh warrior Baba Banda Singh Bahadur and his soldiers over the Mughals.Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal approved the designs of the Sikh memorials after consulting a high-powered committee, comprising eminent Sikh intellectuals and academicians, official sources said.Baba Banda Singh Bahadur's memorial will be erected in Chapper Chiri village near Mohali while the memorials of Sikh martyrs of Wadda and Chhota Ghallugharas (Holocausts) will be made in Sangrur and Gurdaspur districts.The work at all the three sites would be completed by mid October, he said.
