Baba Moti Ram Mehra and the errection of other Sikh memorials

Honouring ardent faith in essential human goodness and unique sacrifice of Baba Moti Ram Mehra in annals of Sikh history, the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal announced to raise a suitable Commemorative memorial in the memory of great martyr at Sri Fatehgarh Sahib.

Baba Moti Ram Mehra had made supreme sacrifice of his life and also of other family members at the hands of Mughal Raj for serving milk to the younger Sahibzadas, Baba Zorawar Singh & Baba Fateh Singh and Mata Gujri Ji at Fatehgarh Sahib during their imprisonment.

Addressing a largely attended State Level function to commemorate the memory of the Great Martyr here today, Badal said that the State Government has chalked out an ambitious plan of erecting memorials of Sikh historical events like Ghallugharas and sacrifice of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur to strengthten the linkage of present and future generations with our glorious heritage and inculcate in them a love for our rich past which is full of sacrifices for the cause of humanity. He said that the memorial in memory of Baba Moti Ram Mehra will be of grand scale and a committee would be constituted to finalize the details of this commemorative project.

Badal further announced that the Punjab Government will cover Kashyap Rajput Community under the Shagun Scheme under which a sum of Rs. 15,000 will be given to the girls of this community at the time of their marriages. He further said that he will ask the Punjab School Education Board to include Chapters in the syllabus of PSEB books so that the school students could get inspiration from the life and works of Baba Moti Ram Mehra.

Lauding the role of Sikh community in fighting against the tyranny and injustice in every age and time, the Chief Minister said that Sikh history is full of supreme sacrifices made by Sri Guru Arjan Dev, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and Sri Guru Gobind Singh who sacrificed his whole family for preserving the human and secular values. He said that the Great Martyr like Baba Moti Ram Mehra Ji carried forward that legacy and the Sikh panth is strictly adhering to the glorious traditions established by Great Gurus. He said that the SAD-BJP Government is fully dedicated to this cause and will continue its dedicated and committed endeavours to create an egalitarian society based on justice, social equality and Sarbat Da Bhala.

The Chief Minister also released a booklet brought out by Informtion and Public Relatiions Department, Punjab on the life history of Baba Moti Ram Mehra.

PunjabInformation and Public Relations Minister Sewa Singh Sekhwan,the guiding spirit for organising the function and bringing the Rajput Kashyap Sabha on a commmon platform, in his welcome address said that Baba Moti Ram Mehra's supreme sacrifice has been recognised only by the Punjab Government under the leadership of Parkash Singh Badal. He strongly pleaded for raising a suitable memorial in memory of Baba Moti Ram Mehra and to give due recognition to the members of the Rajput Kashyap Sabha in every field.

I think its very sad that many sikh dont know about baba moti ram mehra.he sacrificed his faimly for us.baba moti ram mehra guruduara was build by nri kassayap rajput badal ji doing great job to tell history of baba ji.I hope there will be more memorials for baba moti ram mehra ji.
sanu kurbania nu nahi bhulna chaida.apne bachya nu v sikh history da pata hona chahida.hindi schools vich parn karan sade bachey sade etihaas nalo tut rahe ne.
